MINNEAPOLIS — One of the greatest players in Minnesota Timberwolves history is finally receiving the honor many fans have been waiting for.
According to @DaneMooreNBA, the Timberwolves plan to retire Kevin Garnett’s No. 21 jersey on February 28 when they host the Boston Celtics. The ceremony will celebrate the Hall of Famer whose impact on the franchise helped define an era of Timberwolves basketball.
Garnett spent 14 seasons with Minnesota across two stints, captured the 2004 NBA MVP award, led the franchise to its first Western Conference Finals appearance, and remains the Timberwolves’ all-time leader in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.
KG appeared in 970 games for the Timberwolves and posted per game averaged of 19.8 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.4 steals.
The date is especially fitting, with Garnett’s former team, the Boston Celtics, coming to town for the occasion.
Some honors take longer than expected, but this one feels well deserved.
